Hummingbird feeder made from recyclables
To be brief, I won't be brief. It's a chilly, overcast evening and while my mind is full of energetic ideas to make my yard a comfortable garden oasis, my body is not as excited about the temperature. Instead I'll recap what I have been doing, finally post some pictures so that everyone can see the progression and tell about my newest plant binge.
I think that I've mentioned that I used some fruit boxes as planters, in these I put some ordinary annuals: begonias, petunias, and some other fillers (aka. I don't know what they are called or can't remember). I have a feeling that since these are in the shade, they won't fill out but at least they will add some color.
Grape Box
I converted a non-functional bird feeder into a planter and I turned some recycling into a bird feeder. I made a hummingbird feeder out of some household items and while it hasn't been used yet, I'm still hopeful. I also added a decorative bird house on the brown fence to draw your eye away from the empty pond below it.

Todays Plant Purchase (composter was a b-day present last year)
There are still two areas in the back yard that I am really excited about getting more plants into. I headed to Lowes and picked up about $100 worth of perenials to fill in the dirt. Although I haven't decided where they will be going I bought a few interesting things. Here is the list: Foxglove, Coreopsis, two varieties of Veronica, Beebalm, Poppies, and Salvia.
